A self-described adult-onset athlete, Curt Whitacre began cycling in his late 20s and ran his first road race (Cincinnati's "Little Kings Mile," which was rebranded as the "Fifty West Mile" in 2019) at the age of 33. He soon transitioned to longer distance races and has completed eight full marathons and one ultramarathon since 2014. In addition to his love for biking and running, Curt is also an avid hiker and National Park enthusiast. When he’s not crisscrossing the globe as a gentleman adventurer, Curt serves as director of marketing and communications at the University of Cincinnati's internationally acclaimed College-Conservatory of Music. He graduated with honors from Xavier University in 2002 and then pursued graduate degrees from the University of Cincinnati, receiving an MA in Professional Writing and Editing in 2006 and an MSBA in Marketing in 2008. Curt's writing has appeared within the pages of the Cincinnati Enquirer's CinWeekly, UC Magazine, McMicken Magazine, Communiqué, PAUSE Magazine, Milk Money Magazine and other local publications. He received the Gold Medal for Excellence in Feature Writing for a Series by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District V for his feature in the May 2009 issue of UC Magazine entitled "Medical musician uses voice to heal."
